How can I book a session? Please fill out the contact form for more information. A deposit will be taken to secure your session.
When is the best time to photograph? The ideal window to capture images of a newborn is between 5 – 14 days old. It is possible to photograph newborns up to 3 weeks old although they may not sleep for as long.
When should I book? Booking during your second trimester is ideal to ensure availability. I will pencil you in for a session around 8-10 days from your due date. What if my baby arrives early or late? Please get in contact with me within 24-48 hours of your baby’s birth. This will allow enough time for adjusting or rescheduling your appointment.
Do you provide newborn clothing and props? Yes, I have everything required for the photoshoot. If you have a special item you would like to include in the images please let me know ahead of time
Where will my session be held? Sessions will take place in my home photography studio. My studio is located in Urmston, Manchester, less than 10 mins from both J8 and J9 of the m60
Is there anything I need to do before the session? At the time of booking I will send you my newborn client guide which will contain all the information you need. Ideally aim to feed your baby upon arrival at my studio so that hopefully your baby is content and sleepy.
How long will the session take? Most sessions begin at 10am and take approximately 2-3 hours. This is only an estimate and will depend on your baby – sessions are completely baby-led. I only schedule one photo shoot a day to ensure that sessions are never rushed.
What should I expect during the session? I aim to make all sessions as relaxed as possible. You will be able to sit close by as I photograph your baby and compose beautiful images. I allow time during the session for you to feed and change your baby whenever needed. The studio will be very warm to help the baby settle so it is best to wear loose clothing. What if my baby doesn’t want to sleep? I have several methods to encourage your baby to drift off so it is unlikely that I will not be able to get any images of the baby asleep at all. Photos of the baby alert and awake also make for beautiful keep sakes.
What if my baby cries? It is completely natural for your baby to cry but this usually does not last for the entire session. Usually with patience the baby will settle but if this is not the case and in the rare situation that I am unable to get any images then we will reschedule your session What if my baby has an accident? Don’t worry, this is completely normal. If your baby does have an accident I will have extra blankets and outfits to hand ready to swap. Are you able to retouch the images? Yes, It is quite common for newborns to come into the studio with baby acne, milk spots or flaky skin. Skin retouching can remove these.
What COVID-19 precautions are in place? In between sessions all soft props such as blankets and wraps are washed with non-bio liquid. Hard props such as buckets are wiped with Milton anti-bacterial spray. Upon arrival at the studio, I request that you remove footwear and leave them at the door. I also ask that you sanitse hands, I will do the same. Throughout your session I will wear a mask, anyone over the age of 11 will need also need to wear a mask. These can be removed whilst being photographed but must be replaced after. To avoid physical contact with your baby, I am asking parents to play an active role in posing, under my guidance. If I do need to assist you I will wear a pair of gloves. Unfortunately at the minute I am unable to offer refreshments so please bring your own bottled water.
